Rescuers are searching for survivors after a volcano erupted on a tiny island in the red sea near the Middle Eastern country of Yemen.
Clouds of ash were thrown hundreds of metres into the air late on Sunday evening as the massive mountain started spewing lava into the sea.
About 50 Yemeni soldiers were evacuated from the area but eight were killed by the eruption.
It's the first time the volcano has erupted for about a hundred years.

The volcano is close to a military base and it's thought the western part of the island collapsed following the eruption.
